As is our custom, we at the Gayle Borden group bring you a small peek into the amazing community of Fort Lauderdale with a list of this week’s events held around town. This week is filled with activities that will provide a great retreat from the everyday, boasting some great choices for those seeking a more eventful yet mature experience.

First, it's lobster season and time for the 2nd Annual BugFest-By-The-Sea in Lauderdale-By-The Sea, starting at 12:01 am on July 24 and ending at 4 pm the following day. Sponsored by Gold Coast Scuba, the contest is comprised of four separate categories, each with their own great prizes: the winner of biggest lobster caught off a boat will receive $500, biggest lobster caught on a beach dive is also $500, biggest lobster caught during the one-tank will receive an atomic regulator, and biggest lobster caught during the 6 am two-tank dive will win a dive computer. All participants must be over 18 and a certified scuba diver. Winners will be announced July 25th, at the BugFest-By-The-Sea Master Lobster Chef Competition at 8 pm, in El Prado Park on the beach.

Next, the Museum of Art of Fort Lauderdale is hosting the monthly wine-tasting of everyday wines from around the globe. This month, Stephanie Miskew- certified sommelier and wine educator- will be hosting the event, and the guest chef-of-the-month will pair delectable food with the fine wines.

Don’t miss Dunlap & Pennington- two classically-trained concert artists- at the First Congregational Church of Ft. Lauderdale on July 27th at 7:30 pm. One playing on a custom grand piano and the other a custom-designed modern instrument called a Wersi, the two will perform an amalgamation of broadway hits, pop songs, jazz, and classical favorites in a new, exciting venue that has critics raving.
