Looking for fun things to do in Fort Lauderdale this week? This vibrant and exciting city always seems to offer something for everyone, with this week being no exception!

On October 25-27, from 12-4 pm bring the whole family to the Museum of Discovery & Science for the “Grossout Halloween Science Weekend”! Enjoy an array of fun – and totally gross – Halloween activities. Take the jelly bean taste test, touch snakes, gators and bugs and play the GrossOut Showdown. Make sure to dress to impress for the Halloween Costume Contest. If you dare, taste edible bugs! Visit the Totally Gross Science Lab where you can dissect a diaper, get sweaty, make a crusty scab, dig for ear wax, make fake vomit, get bad breath and play with snot. Check out the Mad Scientist Chemistry and Electricity Shows, where the Mad Scientist will blow you away with color changing liquids, bubbling mixtures, and static electricity experiments! See the Human Organs Show, listen to Bat Chat, or watch South Florida Pirates put on a show. You can even visit the Blood Truck – where you can donate blood to the South Florida Blood Bank.

The 15th Annual Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Craft Festival is being held October 26 & 27, right in the heart of the Lauderdale-by-the-Sea business district at Commercial Blvd & A1A. Presented by the city’s Chamber of Commerce, this festival is a perennial favorite amongst residents and visitors, and consistently draws enthusiastic crowds to peruse scores of vendor booths and their handmade wares. Enjoy crafts, music, food, and fun right on the beach on Saturday & Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The widely acclaimed Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival is underway and running through November 11. Now in its 28th year, the festival is always successful in compiling a wonderful selection of entertaining features, shorts and documentaries from around the world, and bringing them to the great art houses and small cinemas of South Florida, including the renowned Cinema Paradiso. Come see what film enthusiasts call “A vacation from ordinary film.” A wide selection of titles are scheduled for each day throughout the 3-week festival, so be sure to check the listings!
