Fort Lauderdale’s Coral Ridge is a lovely community of homes located between Sunrise and Oakland Park Boulevards, east of Federal Highway and west of the Intracoastal Waterway. It was incorporated in 1947, during the real estate boom that followed WWII through the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Today the neighborhood is sometimes referred to as “Old Coral Ridge” in order to differentiate from the neighborhood of Coral Ridge Country Club which was established to the north later on in the 1960’s. Coral Ridge is home to one of the most desirable public elementary schools in Broward County, the A-rated Bayview Elementary. It is because of this school that the neighborhood is often one of the most sought-after by families with young children.

Coral Ridge (like Coral Ridge Country Club to the north) is bisected by Bayview Drive which stretches from Sunrise Blvd north to NE 62nd Street. The west side of the neighborhood is bordered by the Middle River, which offers beautiful waterfront lots with small fixed bridges. The portion of Coral Ridge east of Bayview, however, is made up of a number of finger-like peninsulas and wide canals, offering easily navigable ocean access with no fixed bridges. Its ideal waterfront location, along with the Coral Ridge Yacht Club located just seconds from the Intracoastal; make this neighborhood very popular among boaters.

In addition to the Yacht Club, the area also features a convenient neighborhood boat launch at George English Park, one of Fort Lauderdale’s many fine public parks that is also home to basketball and tennis courts, a playground and picnic areas. Old Coral Ridge is just minutes to fine dining and shopping at the upscale Galleria Mall, and Fort Lauderdale Beach is just across the causeway. The Coral Ridge Country Club, with its picturesque golf course designed in 1955 by Robert Trent Jones Jr., is a 5-minute drive to the north.

With its great location, excellent amenities, and ocean access, this established Fort Lauderdale neighborhood is one of the most sought after to call home.
