Lauderdale Harbors is a quiet residential neighborhood in the southeast portion of Fort Lauderdale.  Located east of US1 and between Rio Vista to the north and the 17th Street Causeway to the south, its prime waterfront location allows residents quick access to the ocean both by land or by sea.  The only bridge between Lauderdale Harbors and the open water is the 17th Street Causeway, which is a soaring 55 feet high when closed.

While its waterfront properties with no fixed bridges are considered highly sought-after real estate, Lauderdale Harbors’ seclusion is also another perk for its residents. The neighborhood is set away from all major roads; with Cordova Road acting as the main thoroughfare in and through the area.  Most of the roads in Lauderdale Harbors see little traffic aside from that of its residents. 

There are some magnificent homes in Lauderdale Harbors that line the Intracoastal.  In addition, there is a small portion of the neighborhood on the west side of Cordova Road known as Cliff Lake.  The Cliff Lake section is relatively small and is lined mainly by the thin lake of the same name that looks more like a canal, running along its western edge.  There are a variety of trees in this area that help create a beautiful canopy and give the section a very secluded feel.

Though the neighborhood is made up of mostly single family homes, there are a few developments of condos and townhomes.  One such newer, upscale development - which can be found in the heart of the neighborhood at the corner of Cordova and SE 12th Street - is known as Hemmingway Landings.  This beautiful upscale development is a great alternative for those who seek to be on deepwater without having to maintain a stand alone home.  At the east end of SE 12th Street is the historic LauderdaleYacht Club, an established member-owned and family-focused private club in operation since 1938.  Nestled between the quiet Lauderdale Harbors and the Intracoastal, it is a Club rich in tradition, with exceptional facilities and service, adding to the allure of this neighborhood as an ideal destination for boaters.

The much beloved and always fun KID Duck Fest Derby is back! Join the fun at Esplanade Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, March 1, 2014.  The New River will once again be a sea of yellow as thousands of rubber ducks race during the 8th annual Duck Fest Derby to benefit Kids In Distress (KID). KID of Broward and Palm Beach Counties is a nationally accredited agency working for the prevention of child abuse, preservation of the family, and care and treatment of abused and neglected children. While waiting for the ducks to warm up for the race, parents can entertain their kids at the KID Duck Fest Derby Fun Zone with wacky activities including the KID Olympics, face painting, and carnival games. Community members can buy entries in the race by forming "Duck Teams" or adopting individual ducks for $5 each.

Join thousands of animal lovers on Saturday, March 1, 2014 for the 24th Annual Walk for the Animals in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The festivities will begin at Huizenga Plaza and the 1 mile walk will continue through downtown and along the New River. Walk for the Animals is the Humane Society of Broward County’s largest annual fundraiser.  It is because of the support from participants and sponsors that they are able to help thousands of homeless dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, bunnies, and more find their loving forever homes. Walk for the Animals is free to the public with no required registration fee. Instead, participants are encouraged to raise funds to support the shelter. The more money a Walker or Pack raises, the more goodies they get to pick up on Walk day!

Fort Lauderdale’s Las Olas Boulevard is the ideal backdrop for this festival, blending an eclectic mix of artists, great weather and fantastic energy. As one of the highest-selling female artists in country music history, Yearwood has earned three Grammy Awards, three Country Music Association Awards and two Academy of Country Music Awards (she's also a two-time New York Times bestselling cookbook author and bonafide Food Network star). Widely regarded as “The World's Greatest Beatles Tribute Band", The “Fab Faux” will be performing a glorious hodgepodge of The Beatles’ later works at the Parker Playhouse (707 NE 8th Street) on February 22.  This show will also feature Will Lee from The David Letterman Show, Jimmy Vivino from The Conan O'Brien Show and is backed by "The Hogs Head Horns" and "Creme Tangerine Strings."
