Music and comedy are at the forefront this week with plenty of live performances of both! And for the sports fan, it’s beach soccer! It’s all happening this week, right here in the greater Fort Lauderdale area. Keep reading for our suggestions of "What to Do This Week in Fort Lauderdale"!

On August 14, take in the USA v. Brazil Beach Soccer Challenge at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood). Held at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, the event will mark the first nationally-televised beach soccer event to be held in the United States. A unique transformation will turn the Seminole Paradise parking lot into a beach soccer stadium for the night, where an audience of nearly 1,000 soccer fanatics will watch as their favorite team battles it out in the sand at 8:00pm. A pre-game party will take place starting at 6:00 p.m. featuring live entertainment, food, drinks and fun. The event is free to the general public, and seating is based on availability.

On August 15, see The Wayans Brothers perform at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Har Rock Hotel & Casino. The famous family of entertainers, including Damon, Keenan, Marlon, and Shawn will be headlining the show that starts at 8:00pm. Tickets are available starting at $49.

Laughter for a cause! Support “Laughing Out Loud for Scleroderma” at the Improv Comedy Club & Dinner Theater (5700 Seminole Way, Hollywood), a private comedy performance with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres featuring nationally acclaimed comedian, Dom Irrera as he headlines a night of side-splitting stand up comedy. As part of the event, you can also enjoy post-show drinks and dessert at the adjacent Sirocco Mediterranean Restaurant & Lounge. Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease that affects about 300,000 people in the US. The evening will benefit the Foundation’s Southeast Florida Chapter which provides services for members in the Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties. Tickets are $100/person.

Giants of Rock and Blues music, including The Edgar Winter Band, Vanilla Fudge, Peter Rivera (of Rare Earth) and Kim Simmonds (of Savoy Brown), are set to bring hot fun in the summer to the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts with August 15’s highly anticipated “Rock 'N' Blues Fest”. This performance will be a special tribute to the legendary guitarist Johnny Winter, who passed away in July. If you are a fan of classis rock and blues, you won’t want to miss this gathering of some of the best musicians in the business. The show starts at 7:00pm and tickets are available from $25 to $105.

Thirty-seven years ago, we lost one of the greatest entertainers and pop culture icons of our time. Are you still lonesome for the energy, charisma and the incredible voice of the King of Rock-N-Roll? Then come celebrate the life and music of Elvis Presley, on August 16 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, when Elvis Tribute Artist Chris MacDonald presents his “Memories of Elvis in Concert”, a full production memorial tribute to the King of Rock-n-Roll complete with an 8 piece band and dancers. Tickets can be purchased for $51 and the show starts at 8:00pm.
