This week’s events are centered on music here in Fort Lauderdale. With an array of amazing venues in which to play, some of the biggest acts in music make a point to put Fort Lauderdale on their schedule. Here are just a few of the big names you can see perform this week:

On October 27, the Hard Rock Live (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood) will host the legendary Alice Cooper, just in time for Halloween! With a stage show that features guillotines, electric chairs, fake blood, boa constrictors, and baby dolls, this rocker – whose career has spanned 5 decades - is considered by fans and peers alike to be "The Godfather of Shock Rock"; Cooper has drawn equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock to pioneer a grandly theatrical and macabre brand of rock designed to shock. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee is well-known for his social and witty persona offstage, and The Rolling Stone Album Guide called him the world's most "beloved heavy metal entertainer." The show begins at 7:00 pm.

On October 29, head back out to the Hard Rock Live for a performance by the famous swamp pop/roots rock musician, John Fogerty. Though best known for his time with the popular band Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fogerty’s solo career was successful in its own right. He has the rare distinction of being named to Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists (No. 40) and their list of 100 Greatest Singers (No. 72). His most recent album, released in May 2013, is a collection of classics and deep tracks from his canon of hits, performed alongside an array of today’s biggest superstars, including Foo Fighters (“Fortunate Son”), Bob Seger (“Who’ll Stop The Rain”), Dawes ("Someday Never Comes"), Brad Paisley ("Hot Rod Heart"), Miranda Lambert ("Wrote a Song for Everyone"), Kid Rock ("Born on the Bayou"), Keith Urban ("Almost Saturday Night"), My Morning Jacket ("Long as I Can See the Light"), Alan Jackson ("Have You Ever Seen the Rain"), Jennifer Hudson ("Proud Mary"), and the Zac Brown Band ("Bad Moon Rising").
The show begins at 8:00 and tickets start at $69.

Also on October 29, you can see Selena Gomez perform the hits from her debut album “Stars Dance”. The former Disney Star and pop sensation is embarking on her first major solo world tour, and making a stop in South Florida at the BB&T Center (One Panther Parkway, Sunrise). The actress/singer may be best known for her role on the Disney Channel show “The Wizards of Waverly Place”, but has been climbing the charts with her latest musical accomplishments. The show begins at 7:30 and tickets can be purchased for just $29 and up.

On October 30, catch the mage-popular Canadian rock band, Barenaked Ladies, at the Hard Rock Live. Known for their light-hearted, comedic performance style, their shows always feature humorous banter between songs and improvised raps/songs that never fail to delight their fans. The Grammy nominated (and Canadian “Juno” Award-winning!) band is best known for their hit songs “One Week”, “If I Had $1,000,000”, “Pinch Me”, and the theme song to TV’s The Big Bang Theory, and has sold over 15 million albums since coming together in Ontario, Canada in 1988. Barenaked Ladies released its 13th album, “Grinning Streak,” in June 2013, and are embarking on a US tour to promote the album, buoyed by the success of their most recent single, “Odds Are”. Don’t miss the show that starts at 8:00, with tickets available from $39.

On October 31, Michael Franti & Spearhead is performing at Revolution Live (100 SW 3rd Ave). A unique ensemble whose music blends hip hop with funk, reggae, jazz, folk, and rock, Michael Franti & Spearhead has been performing around the world since the release of their first album, 1994’s “Home”, a collection of funk- and soul-inspired songs. They are outspoken supporters for a wide spectrum of peace and social justice issues, and played three different events to commemorate President Barack Obama's inauguration: The Green Ball, The Peace Ball and the “Rock the Vote” Party. They are touring this fall to promote their latest album “All People” that features the popular single “I’m Alive (Life Sounds Like)”. The venue where they will be featured, the historic Revolution Live, is located in the heart of Downtown Ft. Lauderdale's Arts and Entertainment district and has played host to thousands of concerts and events since opening in the 1970's. The venue features two-state-of-the-art stages, with its main indoor stage accommodating just 1,100 patrons, making it a popular venue for intimate shows. The concert begins at 7:30 and tickets start at $27.

And finally, at 7:30 on November 2, superstar crooner Michael Bublé returns to South Florida when he headlines at the BB&T Center for a stop on his 2013 “To Be Loved” Tour. The critically acclaimed Bublé is the recipient of three Grammy Awards for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, and has been nominated five additional times. He was named Favorite Adult Contemporary artist at the 2010 American Music Awards. Bublé is best known for his hit songs like “Home”, and "Haven't Met You Yet", and his new single "It's a Beautiful Day". His latest album "To Be Loved" is his fourth consecutive to hit No. 1 on the US Billboard charts. Tickets to this show start $59.50.
