B Oceanfront Hotel to Become The Sonesta Fort Lauderdale
The popular B Oceanfront Hotel, located on A1A and Sunrise Blvd on Fort Lauderdale Beach, will be undergoing a change. As of this Friday, June 6, it will officially be known as The Sonesta Fort Lauderdale.
The 240-room hotel opened in 2011 after extensive renovations, and will now be Sonesta’s first Fort Lauderdale property. Hospitality Properties Trust entered into an agreement in March to buy the hotel for $65 million with plans to convert it to a Sonesta. This location will be the brand’s 26th hotel in the United States, which includes one in Coconut Grove. They have 55 properties around the world.
Though you may see some minor changes to the property, including updating the décor in the common areas and adding some additional amenities within the rooms, few physical changes to the property are expected. Management also maintains they will retain most of the existing staff as they transition from the B Oceanfront to The Sonesta Fort Lauderdale.
